3.16.20 UPDATE

​The staff and leadership at Legacy Church continues to monitor the developments concerning the Covid-19 Outbreak.  As always, our housekeeping staff works diligently to sanitize our facility, and they have added an additional level of sanitation this week.  

We are committed to the health and wellness of our church family and will update you as soon as determinations are made about events past 3/28. Based on CDC-guidelines we are asking everyone to refrain from entering the building until at least Thursday 3/19.  But Pastors and Staff are available by phone, email, and text.

To clarify regarding upcoming events:

Canceled
  • All Small Group gatherings thru 3/28
  • 3/18, 3/25 - Youth 
  • 3/21 - Lend-a-hand Marietta
  • 3/22 - All events (worship, youth, awana, parent cafe, youth parent meeting)
  • 3/28 - Lend-a-hand Canton
  • 4/5-8 - Youth Mission Trip (more info)

Postponed
  • 3/19, 3/21, 3/26 - Budget Q&A (rescheduled dates TBD)
  • 3/29 - Welcome back Pastor Brent Celebration in Canton (TBD)
  • 3/29 - Annual Business Meeting (rescheduled for 4/26)

Undecided - all other events past 3/28, including:

During this time of uncertainty and transition, our current elder board will remain in place, and Pastor Brent will be ending his sabbatical early.  The Pastors and other leaders will stay in contact and offer encouragement with short video devotionals. We are working on live streaming worship on 3/22.

We realize that many in our congregation my have hardships related to picking-up prescriptions or household needs.  If you need help with this or any other issues, or if you want to offer to help run errands or drop off supplies at people's homes, let a Pastor know.

Please join us in praying for those affected by this illness and hold to the promise that God is still in charge, and He is not surprised by any of this.

3-14-20 email from Pastor Nate

Dear Legacy Church Family,

We want to make sure everyone knows the details surround our Legacy Church cancellations. 


All Legacy Church Ministry Events for Both Campuses (including any off-site gatherings, meetings, small groups, Bible studies, etc.) are canceled through March 28.   From March 29 forward (including Sunday activities on March 29) we are on a "wait and see" mindset.  We ask for your patience in declaring what will happen after March 29 in that we will continue to use God's leading and common sense going forward.  This includes things like the Youth Missions trip to Atlanta, Holy Week activities including the Seder Meal, etc.   Please watch the website, Facebook, and emails for any updates.  We will continue our communication with you going forward. 

If you have any type of emergency, please contact the pastors directly via phone call, text, Facebook message or email.

Please join us on Facebook or the Website tomorrow morning (March 15) for a short message from Pastor Brent and myself as we continue our walk with Christ through His life and ministry.

I close with this wonderful prayer Paul records in Ephesians 3:14-21 for the church:

 
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.  I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,  so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. Dear Legacy Family,

In a follow-up to yesterday's email, and after much discussion with the Staff and Board members, we have decided that it is best to exercise caution and cancel all services and events (at both campuses)  through Saturday, March 28.  As indicated yesterday, this is a fluid situation, and certain additional factors have come to light since the email went out yesterday. 

One of these factors involves Pastor Jeff. On March 1, Pastor Jeff attended a service at Liberty Square Church. Yesterday, Pastor Jeff learned that two individuals at that church have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Pastor Jeff did not know or interact with individuals who tested positive. Nevertheless, out of an abundance of caution, late yesterday Pastor Jeff went to the doctor in hopes of being tested for the virus. While Pastor Jeff has run an intermittent low-grade fever over the past several days, the doctor did not test him for the virus. There are a limited number of test kits available, and Pastor Jeff did not exhibit the more telling symptoms (e.g., high-grade fever, shortness of breath, and productive cough). While a high-grade fever is one of the more telling symptoms, the virus does not affect everyone the same, and some who have the virus may only experience a low-grade fever. The doctor did test for and rule out both flu and strep. Although Pastor Jeff is not exhibiting the primary symptoms of the COVID-19 virus, the doctor recommended that he self-quarantine. 

We understand that a number of our church members who are elderly or others who have elevated risk factors, will be staying home, including some from our volunteer staff that help make our services possible, and Pastor Jeff’s absence will certainly affect our youth and other ministries.

Considering all these factors, we have decided that this is our best course of action.  We will continue to monitor the information and recommendations reported by the Health Department, and the CDC and will make decisions regarding scheduled events after March 28 as warranted.  We will keep you advised through email, social media, and on our web page.  

Please remember - You don't have to be at a church service to WORSHIP!

​Dear Legacy Family,
 
On behalf of the elders and pastors, I wanted to provide a brief update regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), as we know many of you have understandable questions and concerns. As of now, we are set to continue with Sunday worship services as normal.  At the Marietta campus, we are increasing our cleaning efforts, and have antibacterial hand cleaners out in several locations. At both campuses, on Sunday, we also plan to wipe down door and bathroom-sink handles with disinfectant wipes periodically throughout the morning.
 
We also understand that many of our members may choose to worship from home and listen to our podcasts, particularly those who are, or who may be around, aging or immuno-compromised individuals, or anyone else having increased risk to exposure. As well, any members who have been in areas or circumstances that placed them at increased risk for exposure may choose to remain at home. Like you, our priority is the well-being of all our members.
 
At the Canton campus, we recognize that there is a possibility that the county could (at some point) temporarily close that building to public gatherings. If that happens, our tentative plan is to hold combined services at the Marietta campus.
 
Finally, we recognize that this is a very fluid situation, and things are changing rapidly. We want to avoid being overly fearful about this situation (II Timothy 1:7), while at the same time showing appropriate prudence (Proverbs 8:12). We can take heart that nothing that is happening now is taking God by surprise (Psalm 139: 16-17).

Your elders and pastors will continue to reassess the situation and we will advise you of any changes to our operations.  There is a link on the home page of our website where this notice, as well as any updates, will be posted.
